Eagles

Patriots

  • According to ESPN’s Mike Reiss, former Patriots WR Troy Brown will continue working with the team at least through the early part of training camp. He’ll help ST coach Joe Judge, who’s also pulling double duty as the WR coach.
  • Reiss mentions QB Danny Etling‘s best chance to stick on the roster might be in a role similar to Saints QB Taysom Hill, where he plays special teams and is brought in for specific packages on offense.
  • Reiss says it’ll be important to see if third-round OT Yodny Cajuste to be healthy for the start of training camp, as rookies can be left behind quickly once camp starts and the Patriots start installing their schemes.

Redskins

  • NBC Sports’ JP Finlay writes the longer the Redskins wait to extend G Brandon Scherff, it’ll be more expensive and harder to get a deal done.
  • Finlay says Scherff will likely command a deal around $13-$14 million per season, perhaps more if the Redskins continue to lowball him and he hits the open market.
  • Finlay also believes the deal likely needs to get done in the next month or so. There’s no active deadline to extend Scherff, but Finlay notes the closer players get to free agency, the more likely they are to stop negotiations and try to hit the open market.
  • According to Finlay, LT Trent Williams‘ desire for a new contract isn’t holding up negotiations for Scherff.
